Lindsey and Rob are extremely inspired by the words of Buddha: “May all that have life be delivered from suffering.”
In September of 2020 the idea of Clementine Ranch started becoming a reality. Their goal was the ranch would be a place of compassion, life, and creativity—one that combines their love of animals, a vegan lifestyle, and music. The future of the ranch would not only include the animal sanctuary, but also an organic greenhouse and a state-of-the-art recording studio for bands to create their art in. Things starting moving much sooner than expected and on October 2, 2020 Lindsey and Rob made it public that they had taken over an existing animal sanctuary. Clementine Ranch was born. The ranch is named after Lindsey's cat, Clementine, who got her through so many hardships in her life. It was the perfect namesake for such a special place. |
Rob and Lindsey's plan was to have the organic greenhouse completed in the Spring of 2021 so the ranch could launch the farmers market later that year. The recording studio was scheduled to start construction in the Fall of 2021 as well. However, their plans quickly changed when they realized the transition of ownership was not going to be as smooth as previously thought.
Within weeks of taking over the non profit, and with the property purchase still in the closing process, Rob and Lindsey quickly began to realize that the bumps in the road ahead were more like pot holes and hills. It became apparent after finally taking over the daily running of the sanctuary that a lot of changes were desperately needed in order for the animals and humans to live happy healthy lives.
It took over three months to complete the property purchase sale and in January 2021 the process was complete. Lindsey and Rob were now legally the proud owners of a five acre plot of land, caregivers to just over two hundred amazing animals, and homeowners of a ranch house that they planned to make their new home.
Unfortunately, the home was unsafe for anyone to live in and a complete renovation was needed in order for Rob and Lindsey to move in! While the house being uninhabitable was a huge set back for Rob and Lindsey, the transfer of ownership and the closing of the home purchase left Rob and Lindsey to move forward with their dream! They left their home in Downtown Salt Lake City and moved onto the Ranch to live in an RV.
The first priority was to get the veterinarians out to the ranch to asses the animals and get a proper health care plan in place. This included making the necessary dietary changes, developing a plan for preventative care, and getting the animals that were on medication on the correct meds and dosages. The plan was easy enough in theory, however it would take time, care, and funding. After numerous vets and tens of thousands of dollars they finally achieved getting the animals a life they deserved.
With the animals now getting the proper care, it was time to get a plan to move forward with turning the ranch into the paradise that Rob and Lindsey envisioned at the start. As of today, they are still living in the RV without hot water or any of the modern day conveniences we all have come to cherish such as an indoor restroom or washer and dryer. They are actively working on the ranch house while continuing their careers and taking care of their babies. To say they are busy is an understatement!
Even with all of the insanity they experience daily, they are extremely grateful to call Clementine Ranch home and celebrate life with all of their babies.
